Campervan Community is a project of Campers Gateway.
The idea was born from a genuine passion for travel and life on the road by Cobus van der Merwe who lives in Velddrif, Western Cape.
His love for exploring wide open spaces and crafting the perfect campervan led him to do his first van conversion in 2020, just after the lockdown.
What followed was the creation of the Campervans South Africa Facebook group – a space to connect with like-minded adventurers.
As the group grew, so did the realization that there is a need for South Africa’s campervan enthusiasts to have a structured, reliable source of information and resources. A place to share, plan, and connect. This gave birth to the launch of the company Campers Gateway with the sole purpose to serve the best interest of the campervan & camping community in South Africa.
